I had planned on debuting my column Future Buys later this week showcasing some Comics/Books/Media I find while browsing the web. Little did I know that a new Saga collection would be announced, collecting the first 54 issues of the series in an over sized (over 1,300 pages) paperback compendium. Surprisingly EW broke the news 3 days ago (Heads-up on auto play AD) and I never noticed until I stumbled on the Amazon Page today. If your under the impression that I’m posting this because Amazon is paying me let me put it plan and simple, I make no money from showing you this, I mean I don’t even use Amazon, I always use Instocktrades. Plus I do this because I love the comic medium and I’m always on the look out for new future releases and plan on on posting ones I’m excited about under Future Buys.
While in the same article (Heads-up on auto play AD) announcing the compendium EW revealed that #54 is the midway point of the series via Writer/Creator Brian K. Vaughan with him having this to say….
“I love Fiona’s new cover, and I’m so proud that these first 54 issues and the last seven years of our work together will be available in one gorgeous and affordable package that you can either binge over a single long vacation, or slowly savor until our series returns. And Fiona and I are excited to finally share with everyone that this compendium represents the first half of our story, a planned 108-issue epic!” Vaughan tells EW. “We’re so grateful to our amazing readers for their support and patience, and we hope this compendium will be the perfect holiday gift to help introduce your loved ones to the continuing adventures of Hazel and her star-crossed family.”

Last year Saga had entered hiatus with issue #54 with many asking why, but also glad that the creative duo of Brian K. Vaughan, and Fiona Staples had time to relax and recuperate. This long hiatus makes sense with the announcement that it is the Midway point. All this news excitements me and I plan on getting the Saga: Compendium One when it comes out this October 1st!
