Crisis On Infinite Earths is a HUGE story spanning multiple titles in the DC Universe while causing a ton of new series by hitting the good old reboot button. Crisis did a lot of firsts in the pages of comics, plus the medium as a whole, some good, some bad. Personally I think mostly good, as I wrote on another website (ComicsBulletin) gushing about how much I love this epic, I also made a dope video about it (YouTube)! Now I can honestly go on and on,  probably even more on about why I love this series and how you absolutely need to read it, but alias this is not about that. Non. This is Future Buys: Crisis On Infinite Earths, where I tell you about this new bad ass edition I found alone that comes out later this year, and oh boy is it a big one!

Join the Justice League, the Justice Society, the All-Star Squadron, Infinity Inc., Superman, Green Lantern and countless other heroes as they give their all to save the DC Universe in this 14 volume box set!

This box set combines six previously existing CRISIS collected editions, printed for the first time in hardcover, with eight new CRISIS hardcover collections that spotlight the most important heroes of the 1980s CRISIS ON INFINITE EARTHS!

That’s the official synopsis with cover art that may not be final, but I hope it is because the art of the box looks cool. Looking at the listing shows just how big this collection is, then the pricing helps cement that yeah, this might be the “ultimate” collection for Crisis on Infinite Earths (COIE), with what seems like everything involved in the epic. It has the 12 issue CIOE itself (duh), and the recent Hardcovers that DC has sporadically been releasing these last few months. I know Marvel had done this in the years prior with Infinity Gauntlet, and Civil War in the same hardcover with a box format, even pricing them the same. I never grabbed those box sets because $350 is a big hit to the bank, so you have to make sure it’s what you really, really want. As you might expect this new CIOE is one I really want, hell, I would buy it in any format.

Now to complain, yes I know, why complain? Well I need to fill out more words. Just kidding. I only have a few minor gripes that are barely even gripes, just more observations as a fine consumer of comics. Personally I love soft covers (TPB), they aren’t heavy, weird to hold, and look really great on a shelf. It would be nice if they had this box in a TPB option, but I feel like they stuck with hardcover because they also look great on a shelf, and if you made two versions and they both didn’t sell well then they are out of a lot of money. DC has been releasing a good amount of crossovers/events in the omnibus format lately with Infinite Crisis, and Final Crisis being two recent ones. As nice as it would be to have this one in omnibus format to complete the Crisis Trilogy I understand why they didn’t with how many titles are involved.

I am super excited for one of my favorite stories to be collected in such an epic box set and plan on saving money so I can pick this up in November. Stay tuned next week where I go over another favorite DC Comic coming in the future, in Future Buys!
